Grand alliance won’t suffer if Ershad quits: Quamrul

Terming Jatiya Party chairman HM Ershad an unpredictable person, State Minister for Law advocate Quamrul Islam on Tuesday said there will be no impact on the Awami League-led grand-alliance if his party deserts it. “There’s no consistency in Ershad’s stand. There’ll be no impact on the alliance (grand alliance) if Ershad quits it,” Quamrul said talking to reporters after inaugurating newly-built court and sub-registry buildings in Charfshion upazila.
Observing that the defeats of the ruling party-blessed candidates in the recent elections to four city corporation elections an ‘ominous sign’ for the party, Quamrul said they have taken lessons from the mistakes in those elections.
The Awami leader expressed the hope that they will win the next parliamentary polls. “The way it has carried out (massive) development works across the country, people won’t cast their votes for any party other than Awami League.” he said. (Source: UNB) (Source: UNB)
