Gulshan attack: Arms suppliers on remand

Dhaka-The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Thursday placed four suspected arms suppliers of Gulshan café attack on a three-day remand each.Magistrate Snigdha Rani Chakraborty of the CMM Court passed the order after hearing on a 10-day remand plea. Earlier, acting on a tip-off, police conducted a drive at Darus Salam area and arrested them on Wednesday at about 9 pm on Wednesday.
The arrestees are Abu Taher, 37, Mizanur Rahman alias Chhoto Mizan, 34, M Selim Miah, 45, and Towfiqul Islam alias Doctor Towfiq, 32.
Police claimed, all of them are the members of the banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). Of them, Mizan used to supply arms to Tamin Chowdhury and Marzan through Indian border, who were allegedly killed in operations of law enforcers.
The police, however, did not say anything about the links of these four men with ‘Neo JMB’ chief Abdur Rahman alais Sarowar Jahan who, according to the RAB, led the Gulshan operation. -Special Correspondent
