Awami League joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Hanif on Saturday said BNP’s threat to enforce non-stop hartal and blockade programmes after Eid has proved that the main opposition does not want the trial of war crimes.“People felt relived and welcomed the High Court verdict declaring Jamaat’s registration illegal. But, BNP has come up with a threat to wage non-stop hartal, siege and blockade programmes after Eid just to save Jamaat, he said.
It has proved that BNP never wants the trial of war crimes,” he said. Hanif, also a special assistant to the Prime minister, said this while addressing an iftar party at the city’s Officers’ Club.
Awami League Dhaka-2 constituency organised the party. BNP standing committee member Moudud Ahmed on Friday threatened harsher programmes like non-stop hartal, siege and blockade if the government tried to hold the next general election under a partisan administration.
“The people of the country will make all efforts to ban Jamaat by resisting its all conspiracies,” Hanif added. On opposition leader Khaleda Zia’s plan to form a new type of government he said, “BNP wants to push the country into darkness by forming the new type of government with war criminals Jamaat and fanatics Hfajat.
The people of the country will have to remain alert in this regard,” he said. – UNB
