Commerce Minister GM Quader said Wednesday in Parliament that hartal, blockade and other negative political programmes cast adverse impact on the country’s trade and investment. “There’s no doubt that negative programmes like hartal and blockade cast adverse impact on the country’s trade and investment… it had been possible to avert such impact following timely steps taken by the government,” he said while responding to a starred question of M Tajul Islam (Comilla-9).
The Commerce Minister claimed that export earnings, export growth and employment generation have increased compared to any time in the past. The government remains alert so that trade and investment are not hampered due to any negative activities, he said. – UNB
