Rajshahi – The High Court division of Bangladesh Supreme Court has summoned Rajshahi University (RU) VC, Pro-VC, Registrar, and Treasurer concerning direction of investigation over the corruption in the university authority on Thursday.A bench of high court division consisting the Justice Naima Haider and Justice Taher Saifur Rahamn issued the rule asking why charges will not be brought against them.
Within next four months, Secretary of Home Ministry, Chairman of Anti Corruption Commission (ACC), RU VC, Pro-VC Registrar and treasurer, are ordered to reply to the rule.
The rule was issued in a writ petition filed by an Asaduzzaman ex-student of Rajshahi University on March 12.
Asaduzzaman filed the petition with submitting a report published in Daily Prothom Alo titled “Jomi Kena Niye Noy Choy”
The report says, university authority purchased 3 katha-land for building a guest house spending 2 crore taka but it is shown on the contract paper the expenditure is 11 crore taka. – RU Correspondent
