Heavy rainfall likely, signal 3 for maritime ports

Dhaka – Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal no three as deep convection is continuing over North bay and adjoining coastal area of Bangladesh.Monsoon is moderate to strong over North Bay, deep convection was continuing over North Bay and adjoining area of the country, said a Met office bulletin.

Squally weather is likely to affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of the country.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.

Under its influence heavy (44-88mm) to very heavy (>89mm) rainfall with gusty or squally wind is likely to occur over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions during next 24hrs commencing 12pm on Friday, said the Met office.

Due to very heavy rainfall, landslide may occur at places over the hilly regions of and Sylhet division, it added.  unb
