A man was killed in a gunfight between two factions of Parbatya Chattagram Jana Sanghati Samity (PCJSS) over establishing supremacy at Jeeptali Talutdarpara in Baghaichhari upazila on Tuesday.
The victim was identified as Shyamol Chakma, 35. Marisha zone BGB officials at a press briefing in the area told reporters that the armed clash between the two rival groups of PCJSS took place in the area in the afternoon.Both sides exchanged several hundred gunshots during the two-hour clash, leaving Shyamol dead on the spot and three others injured.
On information, a BGB team, led by Marisha zone commander Lt Col Robiul Islam, visited the spot.
The rival groups also fired shots at the BGB personnel and fled the scene when the latter retaliated with gunfire.
Later, the BGB team recovered one magazine, 66 bullets, 82 bullet shells and one mobile phone set from the spot. – UNB
