A pro-Hasanat district AL leader alleged that city AL president and
defeated outgoing mayor Shawkat Hossain Hiron gave life-threat to him
for holding press conference against him.As police was informed of the matter the same night but no action
followed in the last two days, the matter has been flashed to the
media.
Advocate Saiful Alam Gias, district president Bangladesh Krishak
League, front organisation of ruling Awami League, and district AL
member Tuesday alleged that city AL president and defeated outgoing
BCC mayor Shawkat Hossain Hiron gave him death-threat on Saturday
night following the holding of a press conference against Hiron on
early that day.
Hiron calling from his personal mobile phone (no. 01711-359214) to me
(01711-703850) at 11:48 pm Saturday asked why I went too far against
him and conducted press conference in favour of Hasanat protesting his
anti-Hasant statements, Gias said.
Hiron threatened me to hit in court compound, if I go there for legal
practice and bomb my house to kill me, Gias alleged.
Seeking safety and security I informed Kotwali police
station-in-charge about the threats at 12:02 am early Sunday and the
police officer asked me to send a written copy of the allegation.
Accordingly I sent written allegation to the police station on Sunday
morning, but police has yet not registered the case, Gias added.
Matiar Rahman, Kotwali police station-in-charge (investigation), said
the allegation of Saiful Alam Gias was under investigation and would
be registered after completing that.
Hiron denyed giving any threat and said I only asked Gias what was my
fault about revealing the truth.
Mentionably leaders and activists of nine front organisations of Awami
League on Saturday condemned the statement of Hiron blaming Hasanat
for defeat in BCC poll and asked Hiron to refrain from anti-Hasanat
activities and not to create factional divide in the party to give
benefit for political rivals and opportunists.
‘Hiron became mentally unbalanced after his defeat and was trapped
under the conspiracies of BNP-Jamat to give them political benefits,
Saiful Alam Gias, said from a written statement on behalf of those
nine front organistions of AL.
