Home Minister says, Xulhaz killing progressing the right way

Dhaka – Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal on Friday said that the investigation in the killing of USAID staff Xulhaz Mannan and his friend Tanoy is being carrying out in right way.
Xulhaz Mannan, who is an editor of lesbian-gay-bisexual-transgender (LGBT) magazine Roopbaan, and his friend Tanoy, an activist of theatre group Loknatya Dal, was hacked to death by some unidentified miscreants at an apartment in capital’s Kalabagan area on Monday last.“ We are on the right track…we will let you know later,” he told reporters as he was asked about progress of investigation of the double murder. On the day he inaugurated a showroom at Elephant road at noon.
When he was asked whether any of the killers was identified or not, the Home Minister declined to comment by saying, “ I do not make any comment .. I will let you know later.”
Talking to reporters about the matter at his Dhanmondi residence earlier in the morning, the Home Minister said ,“ We will let you know of the development after some days.”
About targetted killings in recent times  like bloggers– Niladri Chattopadhyay Niloy  Oyasiqur Rahman Babu, Avijit Roy, Ananta Bijoy Das,– he claimed that most of the killers involved in ‘target killing’ have been identified. Many of them are now in jail facing trials and others will be arrested soon, he added.
Two separate cases, one by Minhaz Mannan, the elder brother Xulhaz Mannan, another by Assistant Sub-Inspector Shamim– were filed with Kalabagan police station in connection with the double murder the same day night.
The cases are being investigated by Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan police, the minister said. – News Desk
