Housewife beaten to death in Rangpur

A housewife was beaten to  death by a shopkeeper over a dispute of
only Taka 7 in village Maddyapara under Badarganj upazila On Monday,
police and local sources said.
The deceased was identified as Mansura Begum, 55, wife of Abdur Rashid
of the village.
According to the sources, there was an exchange of hot words between
Hazrat Ali, son of deceased Mansura Begum and local grocery owner
Alamgir Hossain at his shop over payment of previous dues of Taka 7
this morning.
At one stage, shopkeeper Alamgir started beating Hazrat Ali
mercilessly when Mansura Begum rushed to the spot to save her son.
Being agitated further, Alamgir and his mother Basiron Nesa started
beating Mansura Begum and at one stage, hit her at the head with a
bamboo stick killing Mansura on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge of Badarganj Thana Nuruzzman Chowdhury told
journalists at 7.45 pm that police recovered the body and handed it
over to her family members after conducting autopsy at Rangpur Medical
College Hospital morgue.
Victim’s son Hazrat Ali field a murder case in this connection with
Badarganj Thana this evening accusing shopkeeper Alamgir Hossain and
his mother Basiron Nesa, he added.
