International literature conference begins at RU

Rajshahi, Feb 23 – A two-day-long International Literature Conference “Nirikh” began on Rajshahi University Campus on Saturday. Former Vice-chancellor of Assam University of India Tapodhir Bhattacharjee inaugurated the occasion in front of the Shukhranjan Samaddar Student-Teacher Cultural Center of the university (TSCC) at 08.00am.
“Nirikh” a periodical relating to Art and Culture organized the program for the 2nd titled “Theory and Bengali Literature and Culture” The program was started with hoisting national flag, watering Christmas tree, releasing a pigeon.
Later, a rally was taken out on campus that parading main streets ended at the same.
Tapodhir Bhattacharjee said in his speech, though it is many years of division of our states literature and culture is yet to be divided because it’s indivisible. We derive vigour from literature and culture. It is not only a conference of literature but also of our thinking and feeling. This type of conference enhances our arena of thoughts.
University Vice-chancellor Prof M Abdus Sobhan said though we are from different disciplines we can be affluent by tasting the sap of the literature. In every country more to learn from literature and culture. The literature and culture are necessary factors to uphold the dignity of the country.
Editor of “Nirikh” Prof Shafiqunnobi Samadi delivered his welcome speech at the occasion.
Later, panel discussions were also held. The researchers presented different theories in four sections of the occasion.
The conference is to be closed on Sunday. – RU Correspondent
