Investigation on in Biman hijack attempt case

Dhaka, Feb 26 – The Investigation Officer (IO) of the reported Biman aircraft hijack case on Tuesday seized the Bangladesh Biman Airlines BG-147 and wanted the black box as the evidence of the case lodged on Monday with Patenga police station Chattogram by Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) over the attempt of hijacking the plane on Sunday.
Earlier yesterday (Tuesday) noon the case was transferred to the Counter-Terrorism and Transnational Crime Unit (CTT) in Chattogram and CTT inspector Rajesh Barua has been appointed as Investigation Officer (IO) of the case.
In the case complaint, the plaintiff mentioned that the plane reached Dhaka to Chattogram within 28 minutes only after taking off. The plaintiff of the case also mentioned that the pilot informed the Air
Traffic Control that after 15 minutes of the taking off the plane the suspected with bomb like object and arms like object tried to hijack the plane.
As the conversation is recorded in the ECR receiver of Air Traffic Control and Black Box of the plane it would be the important evidence for the investigation said the Rajesh Barua, the IO of the case. For
investigation the surveillance video record inside the plane would be more important evidence.
“We have found sign of blood in the plane but no sign of bullet in the plane,” added Barua.
He said, “We are focusing on everything. We wanted all the evidence of the case,” added Barua, however, till the filing of this report 7pm he did not get any evidence of the case.
An army commando operation thwarted an attempt to hijack a Dubai-bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines plane from Dhaka after it made landing in Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport on Sunday evening. The suspected hijacker Mohammad Palash Ahmed, 28, son of Pear Zahan and Renu Begum, hailed from Dudhghata village of Sonargaon upazila under Narayanganj district was killed in the Army’s Paracamando operation.
Over the incident Devrata Sarker, Technology Assistant of Chattogram Shah Amanat International Airport filed a case with Patenga police station on Monday night accusing Polash and his unknown cohorts.
Then the case transferred to CCT and inspector Rajesh Barua has been appointed as IO of the case.
Over the incident and the complaints lodged by the CAAB there are many speculations. Questions raised that over the arms that carried the suspected is real or toy.
Chattogram Area Commander and Army 24th Infantry Division GOC Major General SM Matiur Rahman while briefing the media after the operation at around 8:45 pm on Sunday said, “The suspected was carrying an arm that was a pistol.” However, Chattogram Metropolitan Police Commissioner Mahbubur Rahman said it was a toy pistol. But after the two days of the incident, the police did not get any evidence from the Rab, CAAB or Army.
On the other hand, the case complaint the plaintiff did not mention about the pistol recovery. He said the suspected tried to hijack showing bomb like object and arms. He again said when the suspected
tried to enter into the cockpit the crews saw with him bomb like object and arms like object.
The complaint also said he blasted two fireworks like object at that time. However, in the briefing of the Army after the commando operation, it was not mentioned. – Staff Reporter
