Detective police picked up Islamic Party general secretary Abdur Rashid Pradhan from Dhaka’s Naya Paltan on Tuesday.Pradhan, whose party is a constituent of the 18-Party Opposition alliance, was trying to enter the BNP headquarters at Naya Paltan when he was stopped by policemen in plain-clothes.
Pradhan was thereafter driven to Paltan Police Station in a white microbus.
The BNP headquarters has been encircled by police, RAB personnel and detectives since the 84-hour Opposition strike began on Sunday.
Another BNP supporter Sultan Ahmed was nabbed by the police around 11am when he tried to enter the party office.
The BNP headquarters is locked from inside. Some detectives in plainclothes are stationed right at the entrance.
Mediapersons are allowed into the party office but only after they establish their identity.
Armoured vehicle and water cannons can be seen deployed near the BNP office. – bdnews24.com
