MP Kamal Majumder acquitted of corruption charges

A Dhaka court on Tuesday acquitted Awami leader and lawmaker Kamal Ahmed Majumder in a corruption case filed by the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) in 2007.Judge Fozila Begum of Dhaka’s Special Court-6 passed the acquittal order Tuesday in presence of MP Kamal Majumder.
ACC Deputy Director Morshed Alam filed the case on September 24, 2007, against Kamal Majumder and his wife Shahida Kamal on the charges of hiding the information of wealth worth Tk 7 crore 19 lakh 51 thousand 547 and accumulating wealth worth Tk 10 crore 23 thousand and 305.
ACC Deputy Director Abdul Karim submitted the charge sheet of the case against the duo on February 20, 2008.
On 25 May, 2008, the court framed charges against the accused.
The court acquitted the accused as the charges against them were not proved.  – Court Correspondent
