Police in a drive arrested a local leader of Jamaat-e-Islami from Koila Bazar of Kolaroa upazila on Sunday afternoon.
The arrested was identified as Shawkat Hossain, rokon of Kolaroa unit of Jamaat and son of Mohor Ali of the area.Officer-in-charge of Kolaroa Police Station Shah Dara Khan said a team of police conducted a drive in the area around 3:00pm and arrested Shawkat.Shawkat was arrested on charge of his involvement in vandalism and subversive activities during the recent hartal and blockade programmes of the 18-party opposition alliance in the district, added the OC. -UNB, Satkhira
