Jamaat-e-Islami activists and the members of its student front, the Islami Chhatra Shibir, have set fire to a microbus at capital Dhaka’s Jatrabari. The arson was the fallout of a protest against Thursday’s High Court order that declared the party’s registration ‘illegal and void’.
Senior Assistant Commissioner for Jatrabari Zone Minhazul Islam said the vehicle was torched around 5pm Saturday on Shahid Faruk road.
Eight to ten Jamaat and Shibir activists emerged from a narrow lane and set fire to the parked vehicle. A few seats of the microbus were damaged. The local people put out the flame, he said.
