Jessore jail fire burns 6 barrack houses

Jessore, Feb 5 – A fire broke out at the central jail of Jashore district on Thursday night. Though no casualties were reported, six houses in the prison barrack have been gutted, officials said. The fire broke out around 7.45 pm. The cause of the fire is believed to be leakage from a gas cylinder, said Jailer Tuhin Kanti Khan.
One fire engine of Fire Service and Civil Defence rushed to the spot and controlled the blaze in an hour, he said.
“Six houses of the prison barrack were destroyed in the fire. A probe has been ordered,” Tuhin added. – UNB
