Jhenidah clash leaves 20 injured

At least 20 people were injured in a clash between two groups of villagers over lifting sand in Shailkupa upazila on Thursday.  Twelve of the injured were admitted to Sadar Hospital and Shailkupa Upazila Heath Complex.
Officer-in-charge of Shailkupa Police Station Monir Uddin Mollah said a local man, Momin Joarder, took part of a char land of the Kali River on lease for extracting sand.As Akram Sheikh of Harra village attempted to lift sand from the same area forcibly, Momin’s men resisted them.
As a sequel to that, both groups equipped with firearms and sharp weapons attacked each other, leaving the 20 people injured from both sides.
