Veteran journalist ABM Musa categorically on Monday said the degree of torture on journalists has been increased due to different political opinion among the journalists.
The senior journalist of the country also opined many journalists are also politically motivated.
He came up with the up with the observation while addressing a commemoration programme of journalist Nirmal Sen at the National Press Club.
Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ), Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) and National Press Club jointly organized the programme.
The former lawmaker also said torture on the journalists was not same as the current period as there was no political partition in the community of journalists earlier.
Torture on them has increased as they have been focused as spokesmen of different political parties, he added.
This renowned journalist also opined that journalists are not being able to raise their voice to press home their demands due to lack of morality.
He alleged authorities of many media houses are not cordial enough to pay the salary and required facilities to the journalists.
Musa called upon the owner of the media to pay salary to journalists timely.
