A journalist was crushed to death by a moving train in the city’s Khilkhet area on Saturday.
The deceased was identified as Zahirul Islam Feroz, 35, a reporter of local daily ‘Palli Bangla’ published from Barisal and son of Ratan Dhali of Terochar village in Muladi upazila of the district.Quoting witnesses, assistant sub-inspector Sirajul Islam of Kamlapur Government Railway Police (GRP) Station said the Tongi-bound train – Agnibina Express – from the railway station hit Feroz from behind while he was walking on the rail tracks talking over mobile phone at Joar Sahara around 10:45am, leaving him dead on the spot.
Feroz came to Dhaka to meet an ailing relative, family sources said.
On information, police recovered the body and handed it over to the victim’s family members. – UNB
