Sajeeb Ahmed Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has urged people to vote the ruling Awami League for a second consecutive time to take Bangladesh forward.“There’s no alternative to the Awami League if we want to make progress,” he told a programme in Chittagong on Saturday, a day after a similar interaction in Dhaka.
“Bangladesh had made unprecedented progress over the past four and a half years,” Joy said.
The grandson of the nation’s founding father said terrorism marked the five-year rule of the previous BNP-Jamaat coalition’s term. “We’ll go back to the dark days if the BNP comes back to power,” he said.
Joy said the ruling party wanted to organise election by the Constitution but was ready for talks with the opposition for a solution to the ongoing political crisis on the caretaker issue.
“At one time they (the opposition) want to talk, the next moment they say they won’t. They will not attend Parliament sessions though they want dialogues,” he said inviting the opposition to return to the House.
He said he had come to connect to Gen Next. “I have come here to exchange views with the young people.”
Joy said the young generation wanted to live in a democratic country free of terror and bigotry.
Nearly 200 students of public and private universities attended the programme ‘Let’s Talk’.-bdnew24.com
