JP wants to be strong opposition: GM Quader

Dhaka, Jan 5 – Jatiya Party cochairman GM Quader on Saturday said their party aims to be strong opposition in parliament to raise their voice for people’s welfare.“We want to be a strong opposition in parliament to speak up in favour of people instead of indulging in violence,” he said.
GM Quader, who was also appointed deputy opposition leader in the 11th parliament, came up with the remark while talking to reporters at Jatiya Party chairman’s Banani office.
He said they will play the role of the main opposition for the smooth functioning of parliament while their party chairman HM Ershad will act as the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament.
The Jatiya Party leader said Ershad’s health condition is now good, and he will take oath as an MP very soon after taking a schedule of the Speaker of parliament.
He said their party will play a positive role in parliament in the interest of the country and no Jatiya Party MP will be there in the Cabinet this time.
Jatiya Party which joined the election as the key partner of the Grand Alliance bagged 22 seats.
Party senior cochairman Raushon Ershad was the opposition leader in 10th parliament while some party MPs had joined the cabinet. – UNB
