JSD leader Kanak killed in elephant attack in Darjeeling

Kushtia, Jan 26 (UNB) – Syed Saimun Kanak, a central leader of Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD), was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Darjeeling, India on Friday.

Quoting Kanak’s wife Mala Saimun, Kushtia district unit Jasad president Golam Mohsin said Kanak was killed at Dooars in Darjeeling in the afternoon.

Son of former executive president of the party’s central committee late Nur Alam Ziku, Kanak was media affairs secretary of Jasad and a resident of Sadarghat-Wizeghat area in Old Dhaka.

Kanak’s body will be brought home today after conducting autopsy and he will be buried in Dhaka, Mohsin said.

Kanak went to India with his wife on January 20 to visit Dooars.
