JU runner-up in University Games, bags 12 golds

Savar, Dhaka – Winning a total of 20 medals including 12 gold medals, Jahangirnagar University (JU) became ‘runner up’ in 5 th Bangladesh University Games’17, held at BUET and DU premises.
A press release from the university’s Public Relations’ Office (PRO), revealed it yesterday.
In the competition, Mahfizur Rahman Sagor, a master’s student of JU History department, secured 12 gold medals in all the 12 events of swimming while he took the lowest time (25.20 second) to win the contest.
Yesterday while a courtesy meet, Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Farzana Islam congratulated this fastest swimmer on his excellent performance. Meanwhile, she welcomed the other winners of the university in the competition.
Apart from these, JU won 2 silver medals at cricket and basketball and 6 bronze medals at athletics and handball in the competition.
Among others, JU Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Abul Hossain, Registrar Abu Bakr Siddique and the director of JU Physical Education department Md. Sifatullah were present while the courtesy call.
Earlier, on March 28, Inter University Sports Council organised the competitions, titled 5 th university Games where a total of 29 universities participated the competitions.
