A local leader of Jubo Dal was killed in a gunfight with the members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Laskar Taluk in Sadar upazila on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Golam Sarwar, 32, vice-president of Fazilpur union unit of Jubo Dal and son of M Mohsin of Fazilpur village. Major Muhiuddin, in-charge of Rab-7, said a Rab team conducted a drive in the area around 6pm and arrested Golam. He was wanted in several cases, including of murder, he said When the Rab team was returning towards Rab headquarters along with Golam his associates of opened fire on the law enforcers, forcing them to retaliate that triggered a gun battle, said Muhiuddin. Golam was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot, he added. Police recovered the body and sent it to Feni Sadar Hospital Morgue. – UNB
