BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s special aide Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas has been released from jail after getting bail in five cases. Dhaka Central Jail’s Superintendent Farman Ali said they had released him on Wednesday evening after receiving the bail documents.The BNP leader’s lawyer Joynul Abedin Mejbah said his client had been accused in five cases and had been granted bail in all of them.
Police had arrested Biswas on Nov 8 last year in connection with police Constable Shahjahan’s murder, violence during the BNP’s shutdowns and transport blockades, and on charges of vandalism and arson.
The High Court gave him bail in four cases, and the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate’s Court in another. – bdnews24.com
