Jubo League dissolves its Savar units

In the wake of controversy over the alleged involvement of Sohel Rana, now in custody, in the associate body of the ruling party, Jubo League on Monday dissolved its Savar thana and municipality units. In a statement, Jubo League central committee chairman Omar Faruk Chowdhury and general secretary Harunur Rashid said the central executive committee of the youth front of the Awami League took the decision to remove the controversy over the involvement of Sohel Rana, the owner of the collapsed Rana Plaza at Savar, in the committee.
Calming that Rana was no one of the Jubo League, they said there is no post of senior joint convener at any level and any committee of their organisation as per its constitution.
They said Rana was a self-styled Jubo League leader who and had circulated various posters and made banners using the name of the organisation to gain his own interests.
Members of elite force Rab arrested Sohel Rana from Benapole in Jessore on Sunday, foiling his bid to flee to India.
A Dhaka court here on Monday placed Sohel Rana on a 15-day remand in two cases filed in connection with the complex collapse that claimed at least 381 lives. UNB
