Dhaka, March 12 – US-Bangla Airlines authorities believe a seemingly wrong communication from the air traffic control (ATC) tower of Tribhuvan Airport might be the cause of Monday’s plane crash.Imran Asif, CEO of US Bangla airlines at a briefing in the airlines headquarter said a seemingly wrong communication from the air traffic control (ATC) tower of Tribhuvan International Airport in Katmundu led to the aircraft crash.
“The ATC (air traffic control) tower misguided our pilots. They (pilots) didn’t know where to land on the runway,” he said.
The airport has a single 10,007 feet (3,050 m) concrete runway orientated 02/20. There is no instrument landing system—which enables pilots to conduct a predetermined maneuvers landing if they are unable to establish visual contact with the runway.
Asif said the air craft did not have any record of technical glitch. – Staff Reporter
