Bangladesh’s leading ladies just seem to wish each other well by cards
on occasions such as the Bangla New Year.
That provides some relief to the otherwise tense confrontation that
divides the country sharply and often leads to much madness and
mayhem.
On Saturday, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia reciprocated Prime Minister
Sheikh Hasina’s gesture by greeting her ahead of the Bangla New Year.
She sent a ‘wish-you-well’ card to her arch political rival.BNP’s Assistant Office Secretary Abdul Latif Jony and Asadul Karim
Shahin delivered the card to Awami League President Hasina’s Dhanmondi
office in the afternoon.
Jony told journalists the card was handed over to Awami League central
sub-committee assistant secretary Syed Abdul Awal.
Pahela Boishakh, the first day of the Bangla year 1421, will be marked
by nationwide celebrations on Monday.
The prime minister on Wednesday had sent cards greeting Khaleda and
Leader of the Opposition Raushan Ershad.
Jatiya Party Chairman and the Prime Minister’s Special Envoy HM Ershad
also received a card from her.
