Khaleda sends Eid card to Hasina

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Monday sent an Eid greetings card to Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, wishing her a happy Eid-ul-Fitr. A BNP delegation, led by party’s Social Welfare Affairs Secretary Abul Khaiyer Bhuiyan, handed the card to the Awami League president’s Dhanmondi office around 12 noon.

Awami League office secretary Abdus Subhan Golap received the card on behalf of Hasina. The other members of the delegation include BNP assistant organising secretaries Akhan Kuddusur Rahman, Abdul Awal Khan and Swechchhasebak Dal joint secretary Aminul Islam. Dhaka, UNB News Agency Reported.

The chiefs of the country’s two major political parties greet each other during two Eid festivals and Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla calendar, though they have long been avoiding each other to personally meet or exchange pleasantries.

The two top leaders were last seen together on September 10, 2009 at an Iftar party organised by the Armed Forces Division. Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival of Muslims, will be celebrated in the country either on July 6 or 7 subject to moon sighting.
