Khaleda sits with party policymakers tonight

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is going to sit in a meeting with her party’s national standing committee members tonight (Tuesday night) to discuss the country’s overall political situation and chalk out the opposition’s next course of action programmes.

The meeting is scheduled to start at 8:30pm with Khaleda Zia in the chair at her Gulshan office.

Apart from discussing the country’s latest political situation, the meeting is expected to chalk out the fresh course of action programmes as the 36-hour nationwide hartal enforced by the BNP-led 18-party alliance ended at 6.00 pm on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, addressing a post-hartal briefing, said the party standing committee at the meeting will finalise action programmes to force the government to restore the caretaker government system.

Party insiders said the policymakers unlikely to endorse any harsher programme like hartal until March 26 as the party chief may visit some violence-hit northern districts, including Bogra and Joypurhat by March 22 to 25. UNB
