Khaleda summoned in Barpukuria Coal Mine graft case

A Dhaka court on Monday summoned BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia to appear before it on April 13 in Barapukuria graft case.
Judge Hosne Ara Begum of Dhaka Special Judges Court-2 passed the order in the afternoon.Meanwhile, the High Court on Sunday deferred the date to deliver verdict to April 5 following a plea filed by BNP Chief Khaleda Zia for quashing the proceedings of Barapukuria coalmine corruption case filed against her.
On February 26, 2008 ACC deputy director Shamsul Alam filed the case, accusing Khaleda and 15 others of causing a loss of Tk 159 crore to the national exchequer by awarding a contract for the operation of Barapukuria coalmine to a Chinese company abusing power. – Court Correspondent
