BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia goes to the Special Judge Court-3 of Dhaka on Thursday to appear in the Zia Charitable Trust Graft case. Her counsel Sanaullah Mia told newsmen on Wednesday, if the chairperson does not remain ill she will reach the court by Thursday 10.30 am.
Earlier on May 19, the court warned that it would issue an arrest warrant against Khaleda Zia if she does not appear to it on June 2 for declaring her statement about self-defence in the graft case.
Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of the court cautioned the BNP chief and had fixed the date of June 2. On the previous occasion Advocate Sanaulllah Mia had filed a time petition citing his client’s illness. On that occasion the court deferred the date for the 5th time for recording the statement of BNP chief.
On August 8, 2011, the Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) filed the Zia Charitable Trust graft case with Tejgaon Police Station accusing four people, including Khaleda Zia, of raising funds for the trust from unknown sources abusing power.-Court Correspondent
