Dhaka – BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia will appear before the Special Judge Court-5 of Dhaka today in the Zia Charitable Trust and Zia Orphanage Trust graft cases lodged against her and others. Her counsel of the cases, advocate Zakir Hossain Bhuiyan informed newsmen yesterday (Wednesday).Earlier, on October 19, Judge Dr Md Akhteruzzaman of the court granted her bail afresh in the two cases after she surrendered to the court on her return from London. The same court recently cancelled her bail in the two cases. She was in London for three months in connection with her treatment.
She has been facing four more warrants. Two warrants have been served on her in Dhaka in cases lodged for “Undermining” the country’s map and the national flag and for celebrating her alleged ‘fake birthday’ on August 15 every year. Other two warrants have been issued against the BNP Chief in a Comilla court in two cases in connection with violence during the shutdown of February 2015. – Special Correspondent
