Khaleda’s bail extended till July 10 in one case

Dhaka, June 28 – The Special Judge Court-5 of Dhaka on Thursday extended the bail of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia till July 10 in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case. However, Khaleda was not produced before the as she fell sick in the prison.
Khaleda Zia’s lawyer Sanaullah Mia filled a petition seeking an extension of time for his client. Judge Dr Md Akhteruzzaman passed the order.
Besides, time extension was sought for Ziaul Haque Munna, another accused in the same case. The court granted the plea.
Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) lawyer Mosharraf Hossain Kajal was present on the occasion.
On February 1, the same court set up at the prison department ground in Bakshibazar of old Dhaka granted Khaleda Zia bail till February 25 and later extended it.
On February 8, a special court convicted the former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and sentenced her to five years’ imprisonment in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
The ACC on August 8, 2011, filed the graft case against Khaleda Zia and three others with Tejgaon Model Police Station for embezzling Tk 3.15 crore from Zia Charitable Trust. – Special Correspondent
