Law Minister Anisul Haque on Thursday said Khaleda Zia’s remarks expressing suspicion over the participation of “Indian troops” in Satkhira operation would not harm relations between India and Bangladesh. “There’ll be no misunderstanding between the two countries as Khaleda’s remarks are baseless,” he told reporters after a meeting with Indian High Commissioner in Dhaka Pankaj Saran at the ministry. “The friendly relations with India and their cooperation with Bangladesh will continue,” he said. At a rally at Suhrawardy Uddyan on Monday, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia said “unknown faces” were seen in the joint forces during the recent operation against Jamaat men in Satkhira. The minister said the Indian envoy appreciated the government’s prompt measures in the wake of recent attacks on minorities in the country. – UNB
