Khandakar Mosharraf’s anticipatory bail scrapped

The Appellate Division has cancelled an anticipatory bail that BNP leader Khandker Mosharraf Hossain had secured from the High Court in a money laundering case.
The case is pursued by Bangladesh’s national anti-graft watchdog Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).Headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain, the five-member bench gave the order on Monday after hearing a petition by the ACC.
ACC Director Nasim Anowar had filed the case under the Money Laundering Prevention Act with Ramna police on Feb 6.
The case accuses Hossain of siphoning off over Tk 95.3 million between 2001 and 2006 when he was the health minister.
On Feb 10, the High Court bench of Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed had granted him a six week anticipatory bail. – bdnews24.com
