Khandaker Delwar’s 3rd anniversary of death observed

BNP and its associate bodies observed the third death anniversary of former BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain with due respect on Sunday. To mark the day, BNP arranged a milad mahfil on the ground floor of its Nayapaltan central office in the morning, seeking the eternal peace of the departed soul of the BNP leader. Besides, a BNP delegation, led by its Standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman, placed wreaths at the grave of Delwar at his village home Pachuria in Ghioir upazila of Manikganj. They also offered feteha at the grave after johr prayers. A milad mahfil was also held on the grave premises. BNP’s associate bodies also marked the day with various programmes. Born in Manikganj on February 1 in 1933, Delwar was elected MP for the four times and became Chief Whip of Jatiya Sangsad. A valiant freedom fighter, Delwar had been involved with the politics of BNP since its birth. BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia nominated Delwar the party secretary general expelling Abdul Mannan Bhuiyan in 2007 during the rule of immediate past army-backed caretaker government moments before she was sent to jail. He was also elected party secretary general in the party’s 5th national council on December 8, 2009.
