Dhaka – Nazmul Islam, vice president of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) Kushtia District unit committed suicide, not murdered, claimed S M Mahedi Hasan, superintendent of Kushtia police on Thursday.The SP came up with the information at a press briefing at the district police lines in presence of Nazmul’s father Altaf Hossain, mother Nazma Khatun and wife Urmi Khatun.
The SP said that Nazmul committed suicide as he had been suffering from severe depression.
However, the police official did not reveal the reason behind his depression.
Nazmul’s mother said, “After hearing the sound of shooting, I rushed to Nazmul’s room and found his bullet-hit body lying on the floor. Later, we concealed the arms found in the room. Nazmul’s newlywed wife was crying there beside the body.”
Nazmul’s bullet-hit body was recovered from his house at Farazi Para in Haripur union of Sadar upazila on Wednesday.UNB
