Pointing at BNP, Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu on Sunday said that the law enforcement agencies will not turn a blind eye to its conspiracies to topple an elected government before the expiry of its tenure. “It won’t happen that you (BNP) will hatch conspiracies to overthrow the elected government of Bangladesh and the law enforcement agencies will keep their eyes shut to it,” he said. The minister was replying to queries from local journalists during his visit to a fair organised on Mirpur upazila parishad premises marking the International Women’s Day. Terming the present government ‘democratic’, Inu alleged that BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia in connivance with Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami is impeding the democratic process. “All the country’s problems were created by Khaleda Zia.” He also hoped that the BNP chief and Jamaat will shun the path of terrorism, apologise to the nation and hand over their terrorists to the police. Replying to a question that the opposition leaders and activists are being oppressed using police, the minister said legal action is being taken against militancy and killings perpetrated under the shelter of Jamaat. “I’ll urge the BNP leadership, ‘stop terrorist acts and then police will have no headache about your hooligan gang’.” – UNB
