London-Bengali Film Festival” will be held for the second time on April 13. The four day long festival will be organised by British-Bangladeshi filmmaker Munsur Ali and Bangladeshi actress Ruhee. Films can be submitted until the end of this month. Interested ones can browse to www.lbff.co.uk for more information. A number of film researchers from UK, US and India are expected to take part in the festival. Director Munsur said, “Being inspired by the success of festival last year, plans for organising the festival again have been taken.” “We want to expand the horizons of Bangladeshi films worldwide,” he added while giving an interview to Bangla Tribune.
Munsur is the first Bangladeshi born in Britain to make a film. The film “71-er Shongram” starring Ruhee and Aman received much appreciation. In 2012, Ali was presented with a Civic Award by Tower Hamlets, in recognition for his contribution of promoting young artists through his Limelight Film Awards.
