Make Shuvo Naba Barsha ‘Shuvo’ for hilsa

Print and electronic media have been reporting catching (rather killing) of “Jatka” (young hilsa fish) for the celebration of the Bangla New Year 1423. A government ban is in force on the catching of Hilsha fish fry, jatka to help safe spawning of the fish.Hilsha is the most valuable and delicious fish of Bangladesh. We need to protect them and help them to grow normally. Due to early catching of Jatka, now-a-days full-size Ilish fishes are not found in the market and the price has also been increased exorbitantly.
I strongly feel that we should change taste and tradition of having ‘panta-ilish’ on the 1st of the Bengali new year. We can of course take other fishes in our Pohela Baishak celebration.
