Dhaka– A court here on Monday convicted a man and sentenced him to life term imprisonment for killing his wife in 2010.The convict is Mainuddin, 65, a resident of Gobinda Kalinagar in Nalitabari upazila of Sherpur district. He used to live along with his family at Arichpur area in Tongi.The court also fined him Tk 5,000.According to the prosecution, Mainuddin hit his wife Najmunnahar Swapna with a brick following a family feud, leaving her dead on the spot on June 29, 2010.Hazera Begum, the deceased’s mother, filed a case with Tongi Police Station in this connection.Ruhul Amin, sub-inspector of the police station and also investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge-sheet against Mainuddin on May 24, 2011.After examining the records and witnesses, District and Sessions Judge AKM Enamul Haque handed down the verdict.UNB agency
