A man was killed as he was allegedly beaten and chopped by the robbers when he tried to resist the dacoits of village Provakorpara in Chatmohar upazila of Pabna early Sunday. Locals chased the robbers caught one of them after good beating. Police recovered a shutter gun and two rounds of bullets from the spot.The deceased Md. Mojibar Rahman, 40, son of Akher Pramanik of the village was a farmer police and the locals said.
Officer in charge of Chatmohar police station Subroto Kumar Pal quoting the family members said a gang of robbers numbering attacked the house of Mojibar at about 2 am. Mojibar was allegedly beaten and chopped by the robbers when he tried to resist the dacoits.Mojibar was admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital where he succumbed to his injury at about 9am on Sunday. With the shouting of the victims locals rushed the spot and caught an accused robber Md. Shukur Ali, 42, of village Tantiband in Sujanagar upazila of the district after beating him up. Rest of his associates managed to escape from the spot.Police arrested injured robber and seized a shutter gun and two round bullets from the spot. Police also recovered Tk. 20 thousand cash and Tk. 90 thousand ornaments. The arrested robber was admitted to Chatmohar upazila health complex.A case was filed with the incident the OC said.
