Man killed in clash over land in Kurigram

A man was killed and 10 others were injured in a clash over a land-related dispute at Maldanga village of Mogolbasa union in Sadar upazila on Saturday.The deceased was identified as Akhter Hossain, 40, son of Ahmmed Hossain, a resident of the village.Mohammad Ruhani, officer-in-charge of Kurigram Police Station, said there had been a long standing dispute between Ahmmed Hossain, 85, and his stepbrother Abdul Sobhan, 80, over the ownership of a piece of land at the village.Over the issue, the members of two families locked into a fierce clash in the morning which left 11 people injured.Later the injured were admitted to Kurigram Sadar Hospital at noon where doctors declared Akhter dead,The other injured were Ahmmed Hossain, his son Abul Baten, 65, Shamsul Haque, Ibrahim Ali, 50, Ruhul Amin, 25, Ullah Miah, 20, Abdul Sobhan, his son Tajul Islam, 40 and Raju Miah.The four of the injured were transferred to Rangpur Medical College Hospital as their condition deteriorated.Police also arrested Tajul and Rafiqul in connection with the incident, said Masud Alam, assistant superintendent of police, Kurigram circle. -UNB, Kurigram
