Man killed ‘by stepbrother’ over land in Naogaon

A man was beaten to death allegedly by his stepbrother over a land-related dispute at Tilon village in Mohadevpur upazila on Friday night.The deceased was identified as Abu Taher, 65, son of late Khadem Ali of the village.Iqbal Pasha, sub-inspector of Mohadevpur Police Station, said Abu Taher and his stepbrother Hayder Ali had long been at loggerheads over the ownership of a piece of land.As a sequel to the enmity, an altercation ensued between them over the issue on Friday evening.At one stage, Hayder along with his four sons hit Taher with bamboo stick, leaving him critically injured.
Emran Hossain, son of Taher, was also injured as he attempted to save his father being beaten.Later Taher was rushed to Mohadevpur Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.Police sent the body to sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy around 10.00am on Saturday.Emran filed a murder case accusing seven people with Mahadebpur Police Station this (Saturday) morning. -UNB, Naogaon
