Dhaka – A court here on Wednesday convicted a man and sentenced him to death for killing his wife in 2009.Koyes Mia, 34, son of Abdul Khalik of Sadar upazila in Moulvibazar district in Sylhet, was tried in absentia.According to the prosecution, Sultana Begum, 20, wife of autorickshaw driver Koyes Mia, was strangulated to death by her husband over family feud at her father’s house at Osmaninagar upazila on July 23, 2009.Sundar Bibi, Sultana’s mother, filed a case with Osmaninagar Police Station.Police submitted chargesheet against Koyes on December 24, 2009.After examining the records and 12 witnesses, Judge Roksana Begum of Sylhet Additional District and Sessions Judge Court-3 handed down the verdict.UNB news gency
