Dhaka – The First Additional District and Session’s Judge’s Court of Dhaka on Sunday fixed June 18 for submission of the further investigation report in Major General Abul Manzoor murder case.Judge SM Saiful Islam of the court passed the order as the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police failed to submit the report to the court yesterday (Sunday). The court passed order in response to a petition of the prosecution seeking more time.
February 10 of 2014, had been fixed for pronouncing the verdict in the sensational case. Before that, the then judge of the court, Hosne Ara Akhter was transferred from this court. Later, following a plea of the prosecution, the concerned court passed order further investigation in the case on February 27, 2017.
Manzoor was the commander of Sector-8 during the Liberation War. He was killed at Chittagong Cantonment on June 1, 1981, two days after the assassination of the then President Ziaur Rahman.
On February 28, 1995, 14 years after the murder, freedom fighter Manzoor’s brother Barrister Abul Mansur Ahmed lodged the murder case with Panchlaish Police Station of Chittagong port city.
