Miles announces 40 year anniversary plans

A press conference on the 40 years anniversary celebration of Miles was held yesterday at the Seminar Hall of The Daily Star office in Dhaka.
The band will perform in Chittagong, Sylhet, Rajshahi and Khulna after completing an international tour in USA, Australia and Canada. They will also arrange a mega concert that will have contemporary, rock and melody sections. A portion of the profits from this tour will be donated to charity.
Miles team members Shafin Ahmed, Hamin Ahmed, Manan Ahmed, Syed Ziaur Rahman Turjo, and Iqbal Asif Jewel, briefed the media about their anniversary plans.
Sabbir Rahman Tanim Managing Director of Windmill, the official advertising partner of the event, was also present during the event. The press conference began with a short video on the journey of Miles.
Shafin Ahmed said: “I want to look back into the past. Miles started a lot of things in the music industry. Although, the band was formed in 1979, ’82 is a very important year for us. It was the year we made our first public appearance on a BTV program.
“We also performed our first solo concert at Shilpakala in 1982.
Shafin also said Miles was the first band to perform abroad and get an international sponsorship.
Talking about the celebration plans, Hamin Ahmed said: “First of all I would like to thank everyone and celebrate our 40 years anniversary with everyone.
“Our US tour will begin with a solo concert in New Jersey, and we will perform around 12 solo concerts in as many states in the US.
“Then in September we will perform in 6 Canadian cities.
“In October we will go on an Australian tour and return back home to start our gala celebration in Bangladesh.
Jewel said: “I joined Miles in 1998 and am proud to be a part of this legendary band.”
Turjo recalled his childhood and said: “Before joining the band I used to see the band as an audience member. I joined the band in 1996.”
The event was organized by Windmill Advertising Ltd and details of the celebration plans were revealed at the press meet.
Earlier last month, the band signed a deal with Windmill Advertising Ltd for the 40th anniversary of Miles.
