Miscreants torch union office valuables in Noakhali

Miscreants torched furniture and valuable documents of Sirajpur Union Parishad in Companyganj

upazila early Monday.

Locals said a group of miscreants stormed into the union office breaking open its lock at about

1:15am.

They took away some furniture, two computers and some necessary documents outside the office

and torched those.

UP chairman Mohammad Nurunnabi, also Companyganj upazila unit Awami League general

secretary, blamed activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatra Shibir for the attack.

He claimed that the attackers also torched the portraits of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman

and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

They also tried to set the union office on fire but failed as locals chased them, said the UP chairman.

On information, police visited the spot but they could not arrest anyone in this connection. –UNB,
